At 8,750 feet, my writing home overlooks the Panhandle Creek in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Aspens, with their silvery white trunks and bright autumn display, weave their interconnected roots through the forest, changing colors and dropping their leaves in tandem. We share our mountain home with moose, elk, bears, coyotes, and mountain lions, doing our best to be good neighbors to the native flora and fauna. I grew up in Alaska and my husband is from British Columbia. Stories around the campfire have always been an important part of our lives together.
One of my advisers, Dinty W. Moore, suggested that blogging is a good discipline for any writer. There’s a peaceful quality of light and shadows in this elevated part of the world that inspires creativity. I look forward to sharing it with you here and, eventually through writing retreats, as my husband and I work to build a Rocky Mountain Bed and Breakfast and literary home.
