Thank you for reading and sharing that, Rebekah. Yes, I think you are right. We make the most impact within our immediate sphere. Social media, in particular, has a financial incentive to polarize us, but we have more in common than not. Connecting on a personal level, mentoring, living a life of integrity is, by far, the greatest influence.

Honestly, I don’t know what words would speak to those entrenched in their anger and false narratives and compel them to rethink their positions. Probably our only hope is to speak to those somewhere near the middle, also to women, some of whom are starting to realize they’ve been duped.

What I try to do is to reach individuals, show them kindness and help them reach their goals. I’m a mentor and friend to a fair number of younger people who view me as a godparent, aunt and/or surrogate parent. In the current climate, this strikes me as the best way to have an impact, however limited.
